Looking up your eyes are drawn to the full moon overhead. A full harvest moon so large and brilliant that it seems slightly out of place. Slowly it begins to dawn on you that not only does the moon seem much larger than usual, but it also appears to be much lower in the sky. So low in fact that it looks as though it's bouncing on the tree tops.
You begin to question the validity of the scene and just as you do -- at that moment -- you feel a crack, somewhat like a slap on the back of your head, and in a flash the scene blurs then snaps to a brilliant focus and you realize that you're dreaming. YOU'RE AWAKE IN YOUR DREAM!
There's no doubt -- No question -- you ARE in a dream yet you're as awake, as consciously aware as you've ever been. You look around again, taking everything in, realizing that since this is a dream that YOU are creating the environment and that YOU can do anything you wish.
Your first thought is to talk to someone -- anyone -- to see how the conversation goes. You want to discover where you are. You want to tell someone that you're dreaming and that you're awake in your dream. You want to see what their reaction will be. Trouble is, there's not a soul in sight. You're completely alone in this sparkling forest. You could just stay here and explore but the possibilities seem so endless that it's hard to know where to start. You decide that you must leave the forest and find a village or city where someone will be out and about.
The forest seem so vast. You certainly won't be able to just walk out. You haven't the time. The dream may not last long enough. The only quick way would be to fly! That's it of course. You are dreaming after all so you should be able to fly. Without giving it a second thought you take off sprinting through the lush blue green turf and with a quick jump and spring upwards you tell yourself to fly. And fly you do!
With joyful disbelief you experience the exhilarating freedom of rising rapidly through the night air, over the tops of the trees, and across the vast expanse of forest below. You're soaring hundreds of feet above the forest canopy, rushing through the wind and colors of the night sky.
Far ahead, beyond the edge of the forest, you see the twinkling yellow and blue lights of a large city. You tell yourself to fly faster. You must reach the city. You pick up speed. You're flying faster rushing through the air over the flat lands to the city below.
The freedom of flying is just unbelievable. You discover that your flight follows your thoughts. Your mind is your helmsman. It will steer and guide you wherever you direct. You decide that, with practice, you might get rather good at this.
Your speed remains constant now as the city grows larger and brighter in the distance. What city is this you wonder. It certainly doesn't look like any place you've visited before. What will you find there? What manner of people? Where should you land and what should you do first? You reduce your speed as you will yourself lower descending through a thick white cloud covering the tops of the skyscrapers. Colors everywhere now. You're surrounded by geometric colored patterns within the clouds. You're overwhelmed by the intensity of the colors.
The cloud clears. Your open your eyes. You wake up in your bed.
You've just had a lucid dream!
